Knowledge Brokerage Intensive
Bringing Research and Real-World Action
What It Does:
Transforms academic research into practical community solutions by bringing together researchers, students, industry leaders, local government, faith communities, and social innovators.
Why it matters:
Knowledge often stays trapped in academic silos while communities struggle with problems that research could help solve. This program dissolves the boundaries between knower, knowledge, and community—creating pathways from insight to action.
The Experience:
Working intensively across sectors, participants learn to:
- Translate research into community-applicable solutions
- Design interventions with (not for) local communities
- Build sustainable knowledge-sharing systems
- Counter echo chambers through cross-sector collaboration
- Seeding of Social Foresight
Entry point: Currently focused on the Western Cape fruit industry as a model for integration and practical application.
Outcome: Social biomes where communities take ownership of creating their own preferable futures.
